Do I need something like Vercel Workflows for background jobs?

No. Your app runs as a persistent process on your server. Background jobs, scheduled tasks, and SSE streams work natively, no orchestration frameworks, no extra infrastructure, no vendor lock-in. Durable execution tools exist to paper over limitations of serverless platforms that you don't have here.

Can I move an app to its own server later?

Yes. One-click "Move to dedicated server" keeps your config and reduces noisy neighbors.

How are secrets handled?

Stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) in the orchestrator, injected just-in-time for deploys, and not persisted on disk unencrypted.

Is SQLite good enough for production?

Absolutely. Companies like Expensify, Tailscale, and Fly.io use it in production. With scheduled backups, you get automatic S3/R2 snapshots and one-click recovery.
